Answer:

area = 1/2( sum of parallel side) height

1586=1/2(122)h

1586/61=h

Therefore h= 26 cms

Let the parallel sides of the trapezium be 'a' and 'b' and it's height be 'h'

We know, that distance between two parallels is the perpendicular between the two of them. Hence, height of the trapezium here is ultimately the distance between the parallel sides of it.

so, given that

a + b = 122 cm

and \\ ar(trapezium) = 1586 \:  {cm}^{2}  \\  \frac{h(a + b)}{2}  = 1586 \\ h =  \frac{1586 \times 2}{a + b}  \\ h =  \frac{3172}{122}  =  \frac{1586}{61}   =  26

Hence, the distance between the two parallel sides of the trapezium is 26 cm.
