The area of a trapezium is 180 cm² and it height is 9cm If one of the parallel sides is longer than other by 6cm, find the two parallel sides.

Answer:

area of trapezium=180cm^2

height=9cm

let one parallel side be x centimetre

and other parallel side be x + 6 centimetre

now,

1/2*(x+x+6)*9=180

1/2*(2x+6)*9=180

(2x+6)=180*2/9

(2x+6)=40

2x=40-6

2x=34

x=34/2

x=17cm

so the first parallel side is 17 cm.

and the second parallel side is (17 + 6)=23cm
