QUESTION:-

The area of a trapezium is 225 cm² and its height is 0.15 m. If one of the parallel sides. parallel sides is longer than the other by 6 cm, find the length of the two parallel sides

ANSWER :-

the length of two parallel sides are 12 cm and 18 cm

STEP BY STEP SOLUTION :-

let one of the parallel sides be x cm

Then , the other parallel side = (x + 6) cm

Area of trapezium = ½ × height × sum of parallel sides

➙ 225 cm² = ½ × 0.15 m × ( x + x + 6 ) cm

➙ 225 cm² = ½ × 15 cm × (2x + 6) cm

➙ 225 = ½ × 15 × (2x + 6)

➙ 225 × 2 = 15 × (2x + 6)

➙ 2x + 6 = 225 × 2 / 15

➙ 2x + 6 = 30

➙ 2x = 30 - 6

➙ 2x = 24

➙ x = 24/2

➙ x = 12

➙ x + 6 = 12 + 6 = 18
