Given:-

  • Area of trapezium = 240 cm²
  • Measurement of parallel sides are 20 cm and 22 cm.

To find :-

  • Measurement of altitude.

\large\tt\blue{SolutioN}

  \tt \: Area \: of \: trapezium \:  =   \frac{a + b}{2}  \times h

In which a and b are parallel sides and h is height or we can say altitude of trapezium.

Now, Put the values in above formula.

 \implies \tt240 =  \frac{20 + 22}{2}  \times h \\  \implies \tt240 =  \frac{42}{2}× h

 \implies \tt240 =  21 × h

 \implies \tt \frac{240}{21}  = h

 \implies \tt h = 11.42

Therefore, Measurement of altitude is 11.42 cm.

More information:-

  • Trapezium is a closed figure which consists of four sides.
  • In this one pair of opposite sides are parallel but not equal and one pair of opposite sides are equal but not parallel.
  • Perimeter of trapezium is sum of all sides.
  • Area of trapezium is half of sum of parallel sides multiple by height.
