ANSWER:-

Given:

The area of a trapezium is 384cm² its parallel sides are in the ratio 5:3 and the distance between them is 12cm.

To find:

The longer parallel sides is.

Solution:

Let one side of the length be 5x &

Other side of the length be 3x.

⚫Area of trapezium= 384cm²

⚫Height = 12cm

Therefore,

We know that, area of trapezium is;

  = > \frac{1}{2} \times (Sum \: of \: parallel \: sides) \times height

So,

 = > \frac{1}{2} \times (5x + 3x) \times 12 = 384 \\ \\ = > \frac{1}{2} \times (8x) \times 12 = 384 \\ \\ = > 8x \times 6 = 384 \\ \\ = > 48x = 384 \\ \\ = > x = \frac{384}{48} \\ \\ = > x = 8cm

Therefore,

Length of the parallel sides is 5x

=) 5× 8

=) 40cm

&

Other length of the parallel side is 3x

=) 3 × 8

=) 24cm

So,

Length of the longest side is 40cm.

Hope it helps ☺️
