Step-by-step explanation:

Given : -

  • the area of a trapezium is 384 cm2 .

  • it's parallel sides are in the ratio 5:3

  • height of trapezium = 12cm

To Find : -

  • Find the length of longer side

Solution : -

Let the common multiple be x

  • a = 3x

  • b = 5x

Area of trapezium = (1/2) × (sum of parallel sides) × h

Substitute all values

➻ 384 = (1/2) × (3x + 5x) × 12

➻ 384 = 8x × 6

➻ 384 = 48x

➻ x = 384/ 48

➻ x = 8

The length of the longer side

➻ 5x

➻ 5 × 8

➻ 40 cm
