Step-by-step explanation:
Given : -
- the area of a trapezium is 384 cm2 .
- it's parallel sides are in the ratio 5:3
- height of trapezium = 12cm
To Find : -
- Find the length of longer side
Solution : -
Let the common multiple be x
- a = 3x
- b = 5x
Area of trapezium = (1/2) × (sum of parallel sides) × h
✪ Substitute all values ✪
➻ 384 = (1/2) × (3x + 5x) × 12
➻ 384 = 8x × 6
➻ 384 = 48x
➻ x = 384/ 48
➻ x = 8
✪ The length of the longer side ✪
➻ 5x
➻ 5 × 8
➻ 40 cm
