let the common ratio is x

so the parallel sides of the trapezium  are 5x cm and 3x cm

area of the trapezium=(5x+3x)/2*12=384

                               =>8x/2=384/12=32

                                 =>4x=32

                                   => x=32/4=8

so the sides of the trapezium are 5*8 cm=40 cm and 3*8 cm=24 cm
