let ratio between two parallel sides be x

therefore 1st side =3x,2nd side =5x

perpendicular side =12cm

area =(sum of two opposite sides)(perpendicular sides)

384=(3x+5x)(12)=8x×12

384=96x

x=384/96

x=4

so smaller parallel side =3x=3×4=12 cm
