Given :

  • The area of a trapezium is 4400m sq .it's parallel sides are 30m and 14 m.

To Find :

  • The distance between the parallel side = ?

Solution :

  • Area of trapezium = 4400 m²
  • Parallel sides of trapezium = 30 m and 14 m
  • Height = ?

[Note : The distance between the parallel side = height of the trapezium ]

Finding the distance between the parallel sides :

→ Area of trapezium = ½ × (Sum of parallel sides) × Height

→ 4400 = ½ × (30 + 14) × Height

→ 4400 = ½ × 44 × Height

→ 4400 = 22 × Height

→ Height = 4400 ÷ 22

Height = 200 m

  • Hence,the distance between the parallel sides is 200 m.

V E R I F I C A T I O N :

⇒ 4400 = ½ × (30 + 14) × Height

⇒ 4400 = ½ × 44 × 200

⇒ 4400 = 22 × 200

4400 = 4400

LHS = RHS

Hence, Verified !
