Answer:

Question⬇️

The area of a trapezium is 540 cm², the distance between two parallel sides is 18 cm and one of the parallel side is 24 cm. The other parallel side is:

Solution⬇️

Area of trapezium = 540cm²,

Let the parallel sides be 7x & 5x

& height = 18 cm

540 = ½h(a+b)

where a,b are sids of trapezium

⇒1080=18(7x+5x)

⇒60=12x

⇒x=5

Sides = 25 , 35

 \underline{\underline{\bold{\texttt{Area of trapezium :}}}}

 \:\:

 \sf A = \dfrac { 1 } { 2 } \times h \times (a + b) ⚊⚊⚊⚊ ⓵

 \:\:

Where ,

 \:\:

  • A = Area of trapezium

  • h = Distance between the parallel sides

  • a = First parallel side

  • b = Second parallel side

 \:\:

\underline{ \underline{\bold{\texttt{For the given trapezium :}}}}

 \:\:

  • A = 540 cm²

  • h = 18 cm

  • a = 24 cm

  • b = s

 \:\:

Putting the above values in ⓵

 \:\:

: ➜  \sf A = \dfrac { 1 } { 2 } \times h \times (a + b)

 \:\:

: ➜  \sf 540 = \dfrac { 1 } { 2 } \times 18 \times (24 + s)

 \:\:

: ➜  \sf 540 = 9 \times (24 + s)

 \:\:

: ➜  \sf (24 + s) = \dfrac { 540 } { 9 }

 \:\:

: ➜  \sf (24 + s) = 60

 \:\:

: ➜ s = 60 - 24

 \:\:

: : ➨ s = 36 cm

 \:\:

  • Hence the other parallel side of the given trapezium is 36 cm
