EXPLANATION.

  • GIVEN

Area of a Trapezium = 56sq cm

Height = 4 cm

if one side is 4 cm greater then the other.

Let one side = x

other side is = x + 4

TO FIND LENGTH OF ITS TWO PARALLEL SIDES.

Formula of area of Trapezium =

 \frac{1}{2}  \times (sum \: of \:  \parallel \: sides) \times (distance)

1/2 X ( x + x + 4 ) X 4 = 56

1/2 X ( 2x + 4 ) X 4 = 56

( 2x + 4 ) X 2 = 56

4x + 8 = 56

4x = 56 - 8

4x = 48

x = 12

one sides = 12 cm

other sides = x + 4 = 12 + 4 = 16 cm
