Distance between the parallel sides means height of the trapezium., let height be h
Area of a trapezium = 1/2 x h x ( sum of parallel sides)
897 = 1/2 x h x (32 + 46)
897 = 1/2 x h x 78
897 = 39h
h = 897/39
h = 23 m

So, distance between the parallel sides is 23 m

Area of trapezium = 1/2 × (sum of parallel sides)×height

Given ;
Area = 897 sq.m
parallel sides = 32m & 46 m
h = ?

897 = 1/2 × (32+46) × h
897 = 78/2 × h
h = 897/39
h = 23

hence the distance between parallel sides is 23m .
