The area of a trepezium is 850 cm square and the perpendicular distance between the two parallel sides is is 17 cm. If one of the two parallel is 64cm. Find the leanth of other side

Solution :-

Area of trapezium = 1/2 × Sum of the two parallel sides × Perpendicular distance (Height)

Let the length of the other parallel side of the given trapezium be x cm

⇒ 850 = 1/2 × (64 + x) × 17

⇒ 850 × 2 = 17 × (64 + x)

⇒ 1700 = 1088 + 17x

⇒ 17x = 1700 - 1088

⇒ 17x = 612

⇒ x = 612/17

⇒ x = 36

Hence, the length of the parallel side is 36 cm
