Let ABC is a triangle in which AB=3cm, base BC=4cm and AD be the perpendicular drawn from A to BC
1/2 * 4 * h = 12
2h = 12
h = 6
In right angle triangle ADB, AB² = BD² + AD²
3² = 6² + (4 - x)²
This method is not working since height is higher
Let us try another method
S = 3 + 4 +x = x + 7
12² = (x + 7) ((x + 3) (x +4)
144 = 7x³ + 98x² + 427x + 588
7x³ + 98x² + 427x + 444 = 0
To make it zero x should be negative numbers. Side can't be negative.
I tried many method.
Something is wrong. Sorry I can't complete it

it will not work. Area² ie. 12² ie 4 x 3 x 4 x 3 = S(S-4)(S-3)(S-x) This factors we never going to get. S should be big number than other side. Negative numbers can't come for sides. So what to do? They gave you answer?
