Base  = 40 cm

Altitude  = 30 cm

Given:

The area of a triangle is 600 sq cm. If it’s base and corresponding altitude are in the ratio of 4:3.

To find:

Their lengths.

Formula used:

The area of a triangle = \frac{1}{2} × Base × Altitude

Explanation:

The triangle base and corresponding altitude are in the ratio of 4:3.

So consider that Base = 4x and Altitude = 3x

The area of a triangle = \frac{1}{2} × Base × Altitude

                   600 = \frac{1}{2}  ×  4x × 3x

                     1200 = 12 x²

                           x² = \frac{1200}{12}

                          x ² = 100

                           x = 10

Base = 4x = 4×10 = 40 cm

Altitude = 3x = 3×10 = 30 cm
