Solution

area of the triangle =area of the square

=40²cm²

now....

area of the triangle

=0.5×base × altitude

=(0.5×base ×64)cm²

=(32×base)cm²

now according to the problem

32 \times base = 40 {}^{2}  \\  =  > base =  \frac{40 {}^{2} }{32}  = 50 \: cm

therefore the side of the triangle is =50 cm

The side of the triangle is 50 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the provided information.

The side length of square is 40 cm.

The area of square can be calculated as: A=(side)^2

Substitute side = 40 in above formula.

A=(40)^2

A=1600

Hence, the area of square is 1600 cm².

The area of triangle is: A=\frac{1}{2}\times\text{b}\times\text{h}

Where b is the base and h is the height.

It is given that the altitude is 64 cm. Also the area of a triangle is equal to that of a square of side length 40 cm.

Therefore,

1600=\frac{1}{2}\times\text{b}\times{64}

}\text{b}=\frac{1600\times 2}{64}

}\text{b}=\frac{1600}{32}

}\text{b}=50

Hence, the side of the triangle is 50 cm.
