The area of an isosceles trapezium is 168 sq metres. If the lengths of the parallel sides are 36 m and 20 m
respectively, find the lengths of the non-parallel sides.​

Area of trapezium = 1/2 x Sum of parallel sides

x height

=> 1/2 * (36 + 20) * h = 168

=>1/2 * 56 * h = 168

=> 28h = 168

=> h = 6 m

Let a IIgm be drawn within the trapezium

The triangle formed in isosceles

Length of non parallel sides = ✓(6²+8²)

=✓100 =10 m

The length of non parallel sides are 10 m
