Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

  • The length of the whole house is 15 m

→ 15 m = (x + y + 2) m

→ x + y = 15-2 = 13 m

→ x = 13 - y …(1)

  • length of bedrooms = x m
  • breadth of bedrooms = 5 m
  • kitchen, length = y m , breadth = 5 m

also, area of two bedrooms and kitchen is 95 m²

since, area of a rectangle is length × breadth

therefore,

To find:

the area of two bedrooms and kitchen we have

Solution:

area of two bedrooms + kitchen

95 = (5)(x) + (5)(x) + (5)(y) \:  \:  \:    ....(2) \\  95= 10x + 5y

from (1) we get

95 = 10(13 - y) + 5y \\95  = 130 - 10y + 5y \\ 95 = 130 - 5y \\ y =  \frac{130 - 95}{5}  = 7

from (1) the value of y is 13-x

so put the value of y in 10x -5y

 95 = 10x + 5(7) \\95  = 10x + 35 \\  x  =  \frac{ 95 - 35}{10}  =   6

The area of two bedrooms and kitchen are respectively equal to 95 m²

and area of one bedroom and a kitchen is 95 - 5x = 95 -5(6) = 95 - 30 = 65m²
