The resistance increase four times. For example- R= 20 , L= 40, A= 2. We know that, R=L/A. If we double the length [80 cm] and half the area [1 cm] . Hence now the resistance is 80 ohm which is 4 times the resistance of 20 ohm. I hope it helps.
