Given : the area of right angle triangle is 20sq ft and it's perimeter is 40 ft

To Find : length of its hypotenuse is

Solution:

 Perpendicular legs  = x    , y

Area = (1/2)xy  = 20

=> xy = 40

Hypotenuse = √x² + y²

Perimeter = x + y + √x² + y²  = 40

 x + y  = 40 - √x² + y²

=> x² + y² + 2xy = 1600 +  x² + y²   - 80√x² + y²

=> 2xy = 1600   - 80√x² + y²

=> xy = 800 - 40√x² + y²

xy = 40

=> 40 =  800 - 40√x² + y²

=> 1 =  20 -  √x² + y²

=> √x² + y²  = 19

length of its hypotenuse is  19 ft
