The area of the base circular cylinder is 15400 cm and its volume is 12400 cm. Find the area of curved surface

Solution

Volume of cylinder=(pi)*r^2*h=(Area of Base)*(height)

height=h=area of cylinder/area of base

Volume=12400cm

Area of base= 15400cm

12400=h*15400

h=12400/15400

h=62/77

h=0.805 cm



Area of base= 15400cm

A=(pi)*r^2

15400=(pi)*r^2

pi=3.142

r^2=15400/3.142

r^2=4901.336

taking root on both sides,

r=root(4901.336)

r=70.00

r=70 cm


Area of curved surface=2*pi*r*h

Area=2*(3.142)*70*0.805

Area=354.103 square cm
