this figure forms a trapezium

use it's formula to find the area

here height = 12cm

as the sides of square are equal in length

area of trapezium = 1/2 x (sum of ll sides) x height

area of figure = 1/2 x (12+4 + 12 + 4) x 12

area of figure = 16 x 12

area of figure = 192cm²

sides of square =12 cm

so area of square=4l

                             =4*12

                             =48 sq.cm

area of triangle = 1/2 *base*altitude

                          =1/2 *4*12

                          = 24 sq.cm

area of 2 triangles =2 *24

                                =48 sq.cm

so

total area= area of square +area of 2 triangles

      =48+48

    = 96 sq.cm
