To find: The area of the region bounded by the curve y=x-[x] and y=[x] in [0,2]  ?

Solution:

  • Now we have given the curves  y = x - [x] and y = [x].
  • After plotting on graph we can find that a parallelogram is formed.
  • The points are: (0,0), (1,0), (2,1) and (1,1).
  • So the area of parallelogram will be:

                  A = 2( 1/2 (1)(1))

                  A = 1 sq. unit

Answer:

           So the area of the region bounded is 1 sq. unit.
