length of vertical path (path 1) =15m

length of horizontal path (path 2) =30m

breadth of vertical path = 2m

breadth of horizontal path =2m

area of path 1 = l×b =15 × 2 =30m²

area of path 2 = l×b =30 × 2 =60m²

as both the path overlap each other in the center, we have to subtract that part.

so,

area of overlapped part = side² = 2² = 4m

area of shaded portion = (area of path 1 + path 2) - overlapped part = (30+60)-4 m² = 84 m²
