.Area of rectangle = 8x5=40cm2 Area of other 2 parts:

1), Area of triangle = 1/2bh=7X4/2=14cm2. (1)

2) Area of triangle adjoining

base=hypoten use=v7^2+4^2 = 8.06

ht=1/2VI+I=v2/2=o.707

Area = 1/2bh=8.06xo.707/2=2.85 (2)

Total area=14+2.85 = 16.85cm2

Total area of triangles at the 2 sides

= 16.85x2=33.70cm2

AREA of SHADED PORTION

= Area of rectangle-Area of 4 triangles

= 40-33.70 = 6.30cm2. Ans
