Given : line 7x+9y=63

To Find : area of the triangle formed by the line 7x+9y=63 with the coordinate axes

Solution:

7x+9y=63

x = 0 => y = 7

y = 0 => x = 9

Hence side lengths of perpendicular legs of triangle are  7 and 9

Area of Triangle = (1/2) * 7 * 9

= 63/2 sq units

Other method :

Coordinates are

(0 , 0) , (9  , 0) , (0, 7)

Area = (1/2) | 0 (0 - 7) + 9 (7 - 0) + 0(0 - 0) |

= 63/2
