Given : triangle formed by the lines y = x, x = 6 and y = 0 .

Solution :

We have ,  x = 6, y = 0 and x = y

On Solving x = 6 and y = 0, we obtain the point of intersection as (6, 0).

On Solving x = 6 and x = y i.e y = 6, we obtain the point of intersection as (6, 6).

On Solving x = y and y = 0, we obtain the point of intersection as (0, 0).

By plotting (6,0) , (6,6) and (0,0)  points, we obtain the following graph which is in the attachment below .

Area of ∆ ABC = ½ × AC × AB

Area of ∆ ABC = ½ × 6 × 6

Area of ∆ ABC = 3 × 6 = 18

Area of ∆ ABC = 18 sq units

Hence, the Area of a triangle formed by the lines is 18 sq units.

Among the given options option (B) 18 sq. units is correct.
