QuestioN :

The area of trapezium is 105 cm² and its height is 7 cm . if one of the parallel sides is longer than the other by 6 cm then find the lengths of two parallel sides .

GiveN :

  • The area of trapezium is 105 cm²
  • It's height is 7 cm.
  • If one of the parallel sides is longer than the other by 6 cm.

To FiNd :

  • Find the length of two parallel sides.

ANswer :

❖First Side is 5 cm.

❖Second side is x + 6 = 11 cm

SolutioN :

Let the first side be " x "

The the second side is 6 more then other = x + 6

As we know that:-

Area\:of \:trapezium\:=\frac{a+b}{2} *h

Substituting Values:-

=105=\frac{x+x+6}{2} *7

=105*2=(x^{2} +6)7

=210=7x^{2} +42

=7x^{2} =210-42

=7x^{2} =168\\

=x^{2}= \frac{168}{7}

=x=\sqrt[]{24}

=x=5

∴Hence,

❖First Side is 5 cm.

❖Second side is x + 6 = 11 cm
