Solution :

Given Area of the trapezium (A)= 216m²

Let a , b are lengths of two parallel

sides,

a = x m ,

b = ( x - 14 )m

height ( h ) = 12 m

[(a+b)h]/2 = A

=> [x+x-14)12]/2 = 216

=> ( 2x - 14 )6 = 216

=> 2x - 14 = 216/6

=> 2x = 36 + 14

=> 2x = 50

=> x = 50/2

=> x = 25

Therefore ,

a = x = 25 m

b = x - 14

= 25 - 14

= 11 m
