Area of the trapezium = 24 cm ²
Height (h)                    = 4 cm
Length of one side      = 7 cm
Let the length of the unknown side be 'x'

We know that area of a trapezium =1/2×h×(a+b)

Here;
1/2×4×(7+x) = 24
⇒ 2×(7+x)    = 24
⇒ 7+x           = 24/2
⇒ x = 12-7
⇒ x = 5 cm.

hope this helped :)

Given,

Area of trapezium = 24 cm²

Distance between its parallel sides = 4 cm

One of the parallel sides = 7 cm

To find,

The other parallel side of the trapezium.

Solution,

The other parallel side of the trapezium will be 5 cm.

We can easily solve this problem by following the given steps.

We know that the formula to find the area of trapezium is 1/2 × distance between the parallel sides (h) + ( sum of both the parallel sides).

Let's take the other parallel side to be x cm.

According to the question,

Area of trapezium = 24 cm²

1/2 × h × (sum of parallel sides) = 24 cm²

(1/2)× 4 × (7+x) = 24 cm²

2 (7+x) = 24 cm²

14 + 2x = 24

2x = 24-14 ( Moving 14 from the left-hand side to the right-hand side will result in the change of sign from plus to minus.)

2x = 10

x = 5 cm

Hence, the other parallel side of the trapezium is 5 cm.
