Question:-

The area of trapezium is 870 cm² if one of its parallel sides is 30 cm and height is 20 cm then find the other parallel side

Answer:-

  • The length of another parallel side is 57 cm.

Solution:-

  • Area of trapezium = 870 cm²
  • One parallel side = 30 cm
  • Height = 20 cm
  • Let the second parallel side x

 \purple{ \underline{ \underline{ \large{ \orange{ \mathfrak{area =  \frac{sum \: of \: parallel \: sides}{2}  \times h}}}}}}

\large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \: \frac{30 + x}{2}  \times 20 = 870} \\

\large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \: \frac{30 + x}{2}  =  \frac{870}{20} } \\

\large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \:30 + x =  \frac{870}{20}  \times 2} \\

\large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \:30 + x = 87}

\large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \:x = 87 - 30}

\large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \:x = 57}

  • The length of another parallel side is 57 cm.

Given :

⬤ Area of Trapezium = 870 cm²

⬤ One Parallel Side = 30 cm

⬤ Height of Trapezium = 20 cm

To Find :

⬤ Other Parallel Side .

Formula Used :

\small\sf[\:{Area\:of\:Trapezium=\dfrac{1}{2}\times{(Sum\:of\:Parallel\:Side)}\times{h}\:]}

Solution :

Area = 870 cm²

Height = 20 cm

One Padallel Side = 30 cm

Let :

  • Another Parallel Side be x .

Now :

According to the Formula :

870 = 1/2 × (30 + x) × 20

870 = (30 + x ) × 10

870 = 300 + 10x

870 - 300 = 10x

570 = 10x

x = 570/10

x = 57

Therefore , The Another Parallel Side of Trapezium is 57 cm .

Check :

870 = 1/2 × (30 + x) × 20

870 = 1/2 × (30 + 57) × 20

870 = 87 × 10

870 = 870

Hence Checked .
