Let the First parallel side be x, Second parallel side be y, and height be h.

Then,

Area of trapezium = 1/2( x + y ) h

12 = 1/2( x + y ) 3

( x + y )  =  (12 × 2)/3

( x + y )  =  8

Hence, sum of parallel sides is 8 m.

Step-by-step explanation:

area of trapezium =1/2(a+b) h. 12= 1/2(a+b) 3

12/3=1/2(a+b)

4*2=(a+b)

8cm =a+b
