in ΔRQS and in ΔPQS

RS = PS (given)

SQ = SQ (common)

angle (PSR) = angle(RSQ)

hence,

ΔRQS ~ ΔPQS

so, the ar( ΔRQS) = ar( ΔPQS)

hence,

ar(ΔPQR) = ar(ΔRQS) + (ΔPQS)

=> 16cm² = ar(PQS) + ar( ΔPQS)

=> 2 ar(PQS) = 16cm²

=> ar(PQS) = 16cm²/ 2 = 8cm²

hence the area of triangle PQS is "8cm²"
