Let radius of circle 1 be r1 and that of circle 2 be r2.

Therefore ratio of areas of 2 circles = (pi) * (r1)^2 / (pi) * (r2)^2 = (r1)^2/(r2)^2 = (r1/r2)^2

Thus (r1/r2)^2 = (49/64) = (7/8)^2, i.e. r1/r2 = 7/8

Hence,

ratio of circumferences of circle 1 to circle 2 = (2 * pi * r1) / (2 * pi * r2)

= r1/r2

= 7:8
