Area of the trapezium = ¹/₂ × (sum of parallel sides) × (distance between them)

                       37.5            = {¹/₂ × (8 + x) × 3} cm²

                       37.5 *2 /3 = 8+x
                        75/3 = 8+ x
                        25 = 8+ x
                        x = 25 - 8 = 17 cm

hope this will help
