Coastal areas will generally have more moderate temperatures than other areas because of the heating capacity of the ocean.

The farther a region is from the ocean, the more extreme its climate is likely to be.

A continental summer is hotter than a coastal summer, and a continental winter is colder than a coastal winter.

ANSWER:

Coastal regions have moderate climate and ample rainfall due to the location of the ocean nearby and due to rapid and high evaporation in the sea.

EXPLANATION:

Coastal regions have moderate temperatures when compared with other regions due to the heating ability of the ocean. In the daytime, the land warm up rapider than the sea, and at night the land cools quicker. Regions that are farther from the ocean experience extreme climate. Therefore, regions nearer to the ocean usually stay cooler in the daytime and have a moderate climate when compared with inland areas.

Coastal areas get more rainfall when compared with inland areas, owing to high evaporation in the sea, and when the wind blows/moves from sea to land it carries with it moisture. When these moist air mass strikes the landfall where there are hills in proximity to the coast, they cause heavy rainfall.
