the areas of 2 similar triangles ABC and DEF are 100cm sq and 144cm sq respectively.if EF=15 then find BC

For this problem we use the theorm-Areas of similar triangles will be equal to square of corresponding sides.

Triangle ABC is similar to Triangle DEF (given)

Therefore

⇒ ar(Triangle ABC)/ar(Triangle DEF)=(BC/EF)²

⇒100/144=(BC/15)²

⇒100x15x15/144=BC²

⇒156.25=BC²

⇒√156.25=BC

⇒∴12.5 cm=BC
