Given: Area of a square and rectangle are both equal, the side of the aquare is 40cm and the breadth of the rectangle is also 40cm.

To find: The perimeter of the rectangle.

Answer:

Area of a square = Side*Side = Side^2

Area of the square = 40^2 = 1600cm^2

Since the area of the square is equal to the rectangle, the area of the rectangle will also be 1600cm^2.

Area of a rectangle = Length*Breadth

We will have to find the length of the rectangle in order to find the perimeter.

Substituting the values in the formula,

1600 = Length*40

Length = 1600/40

Length = 40cm

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth)

Perimeter of the rectangle = 2(40 + 40)

Perimeter of the rectangle = 2*80

Perimeter of the rectangle = 160cm

Hope it helps :)
