The arithmetic mean of 25 numbers is 50. Find the new average if 3 is subracted from each?

mean = total/no.of obs.

50 = total/25

total = 50 × 25 = 1250

corrected mean = 1250 - (3×25) = 1175

new average = 1175/25 = 47
