Number of observations = 20
Mean = 15.8
Sum of 20 observations = 20 * 15.8
= 316
When arithmetic mean increased by 0.4
New mean = 15.8 + 0.4
= 16.2
No.of observations now =21
Mean of 21 observations = 16.2
Sum of 21 observations = 21*16.2
= 340.2
New observation = 340.2 - 316
= 24.2
