The atmospheric pressure DECREASES,as we move towards higher altitudes.

This happens because:

The gravitational force between the molecules present at a lower height and the earth,is much moreeee than the molecules present at a higher altitude.

Also,the molecules present at a higher altitude,provide more compression to the ones present in lower altitude. This it's known fact that atmospheric pressure increases with decreasing altitude,and decreases with increasing altitude. (Inverse of each other)
