Given:

Atmospheric pressure is 10⁶ dyne/cm².

To find:

Values in SI unit ?

Calculation:

  • SI unit of pressure is Pascal or N/m².

  • 1 N = 10⁵ dyne.

  • Also , 1 cm² = 10^(-4) m².

 \therefore \:  {10}^{6}  \: dyne/ {cm}^{2}

 = 10 \times   \dfrac{{10}^{5} dyne}{ {10}^{ - 4} \:  {m}^{2}  }

 =  {10}^{1 + 4} \times   \dfrac{{10}^{5} dyne}{  \:  1{m}^{2}  }

 =  {10}^{5} \times   \dfrac{1 \: N}{  \:  1{m}^{2}  }

 =  {10}^{5}  N/{m}^{2}

 =  {10}^{5}  Pascal

So, the value in SI unit is 10 Pascal.
