Question :

  • the atomic number of an element is 23 and mass number 56 how many protons and electrons does an atom of this element have???how many neutrons does it have??

Solution :

representation of an element ,

 \displaystyle \mathtt{X_ Z ^A}

here ,

  • A = atomic mass number
  • Z = atomic number

As per the given data

  • atomic mass no = 56
  • atomic no = 23

(1)

number of protons = number of electrons = atomic number

number of protons = number of electron = 23

(2)

number of neutrons = atomic mass number - atomic number

number of neutrons = 56 -23

number of neutrons = 33

Answer :

  • number of protons = number of electron = 23
  • number of neutrons = 33

\huge\sf\pink{Answer}

☞ Number of Protons = Number of Electrons = 23

☞ Number of Neutrons = 33

━━━━━━━━━━━━━

\huge\sf\blue{Given}

✭ Atomic number of a element is 23

✭ Mass Number = 56

━━━━━━━━━━━━━

\huge\sf\gray{To \:Find}

◈ How many protons & electrons does the atom have?

◈ How many neutrons does it have?

━━━━━━━━━━━━━

\huge\sf\purple{Steps}

We know that Atomic Number is the number of protons present in the atom,so

\textsf {Number of Protons = Atomic Number}

\red{\textsf{Number of Protons = 23}}

In an atom the number of protons is equal to the number of electrons,i.e it is neutral,so

\small\textsf{Number of Electrons = Number of Protons}

\green{\textsf{Number of Electrons = 23}}

So then now the number of neurons will be,

\small\textsf{Mass Number = No Protons + No Neutons }

\sf 56 = 23+No \ Neutons

\sf 56 - 23 = No \ Neutons

\sf\orange{No \ of \ Neutons = 33}
