Hey buddy....

The atomic no. of X is 20 so it has 2 atoms in k-shell, 8 atoms in l-shell, 8 atoms in M- shell and 2 atoms in N- shell. It's valency is +2, therefore it's position in the periodic table in groups is 2.
We know X has valency +2 and Y has valency -2, therefore the reaction taking place will be XY.
