The atomic numbers of three elements A, B and C are 12, 18 and 20 respectively. State, giving reason, which two elements will show similar properties.​

A = 12

B = 18 , n

C = 20

electronic configuration is,

A = 2,8,2

B = 2,8,8

C = 2,8,8,2

Now, from above , we can conclude that element A and C have similar properties since they are in the same period.

Element A and C i.e., Magnesium and calcium will show similar properties as they belongs to group 2 metals which are popularly known as alkaline Earth metals and they both have 2 electrons in their valence orbit in s orbital where as, Argon is a nobel gas......
