Yes NA+,is smaller than NA because NA+ is formed when an electon is lost from an NA ATOM

Heya,

The atomic radius of Na and Na+ will be different if it is ionic radius for Na+.

#Atomic radius /Ionic radius depends on effective nuclear charge. .In Na+ , total electrons are 10 lesser than neutral one.Hence, shielding effect of electron decreases. As a result, effective nuclear charge increases. Therefore, it experiences greater force.

Thus, Na+ has smaller radius than Na.

  • In fact, Notice these point clearly
  1. Ionic radius of cations are lesser than neutral atom.
  2. Ionic radius of anions are greater than neutral atom.
