This is a true story that happened to me when I was on my way to have iftar with my friends at a local restaurant outside of our campus. After the yellow van dropped us outside of the gate, we made our way to the restaurant that Lili want us to try, saying that the service is fast, the foods are delicious and the price is affordable.
We never thought that we'd encounter such drama-like scene on our way.
I noticed that some people from the nearby restaurant were looking at us. Did the way I dress seems strange? I thought. But when I observe them, they weren't looking at us. They were looking at the little girl who is sitting near the big drain, just right below me.
The drain was huge but I cannot guess width. I'm not goid with math you see. The drain was filled with grey, dirty water and full of weeds. Not the the one people use for drugs. It doesn't look like a place where kids would jump and hunt for fish. That is what I thought the little girl was doing with the small container in her hand but the dirty water changed my mind.
There must be a reason why she is sitting near the drain, spacing out with the small container in her hand and those teary, red eyes on her face when I called her.
Why is she crying?
"Heu kid, what's wrong? Why are you crying?" I rushed to her. My mind first thought about dragging her away from the drain. I don't want her to surprise us by jumping into the drain.
