The auditorium of a school has the length of 47m and breadth of

15m. A carpet is laid inside the auditorium leaving all around a margin of
3m from the walls.


(i) Find the area of the carpet. (ii) Find the area of the strip left uncovered.


(iii) If the cost of the carpet is ₹15 per sq.m, find the total cost of the

carpet.

breadth=15 m

width= 3m

if 3m leving from the wall

length = 47-2×3=47-6=41m

breadth 15-2×3=15-6=9m

area of the carpet = 41×9=369m2

area of the strip left uncovered = 3×3 = 9m2

if the cost of the carpet of 189m= 15

the cost of the carpet 369m2= 369×15 = 5535 rupe
