It is true the author of the chapter The Silk Road was deeply disturbed to see heaps of refuse lying at Hor and Darchen, which are very close to Mount Kailash. Mount Kailash is a holy place for Hindus and Buddhists. It is quite unfortunate that holy places are allowed to be littered.
Holy places must be kept clean at any cost. They are symbolic of man’s devotion to God. If man can’t maintain cleanliness of holy places, what more can we expect from him?
It is also true that cleanliness should be maintained everywhere; but at holy places it must be maintained at any cost.
