Narrative genre/story of slum tourism based on any country or city.

Explanation:

Slum Tourism has become a trending tourist goal in many places today. Tourism destinations do not only include the most beautiful or monumental places.  With the new tourists' goal of visiting slum areas, I planned for a slum tour at the La Hat Slum in Delhi too.

Growing up we have always been told that La Hat slum area was most notorious and dirtiest area in the city. We were told how all illegal and deceitful activities take place there in large scale. Therefore, we created this notion in our heads that the area was unsafe and dangerous.

But the goal to visit the area changed my whole perspective of that area. As the tour guide escorted us into the tight spaces of the area, I was overwhelmed with sadness to understand how life was so fine and subtle in the most shunned area.

There were children playing outside, women laughing and chatting, men gathered around board games, and all normal scenes were perfectly and humanly occurred there.  I can understand how they are more prone to diseases and adversities, but that did not make them any less than us.

They were all normal people living their lives happily. The whole tour has astonished my understanding of slum areas and I have never thought about slums the same way as I have been told. Slum Tourism will help many other people to understand what slum life really is. The perception of slum areas being the most violent and dangerous areas will change once one gets to visit these areas.
